Barry  A. Stinson, Gunners Mate 2nd ~ Retired
As we kick off the upcoming visit of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Traveling Wall, March 30 - April 2nd
we welcome Barry as our guest speaker at our monthly luncheon. 

Barry Stinson is a 22 year resident of Johns Creek. After the shocking discovery that “Saturday night keg party” wasn’t a viable major and bombing out of the University of Maryland, he joined a Navy Reserve unit in DC, attended Gunners Mate “A” School in Great Lakes, IL, and was stationed aboard the USS Crockett, a Patrol Gunboat home ported in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam.  Following 13 months aboard the Gunboat, he was separated from active duty, returned to Maryland, drove a truck while going to college at night.  Then it was on to Florida to complete his undergraduate degree.  His military awards include the Navy Achievement Medal (with Combat Distinguishing Device), Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation and others.  He was honorably discharged 1/73 as Gunners Mate 2^nd (E-5).   Due to extensive exposure to Agent Orange during river patrols, he is rated 100% disabled by the VA, which entitles him to really good parking spaces. Barry also gives enlightened tours at the Veterans Memorial Walk at Newtown Park with real world stories that are touching and memorable.  See more about the Traveling Wall below:
