Update on the Epidemic of Heroin Fatalities in
Fulton County
In July, a heroin working group, or task force, was set up in Fulton County to tackle the problem. District Attorney Paul Howard commissioned a report to gather data. "The report that we produced is not designed to frighten people but rather to make everyone aware that we are staring at a crisis that gives every indication that it will get worse," Howard said.  One of the report's authors, Dr. Kevin Baldwin, said that if the trend continues as expected, the number of deaths is only expected to increase.

"Five years from now we'll see over 1,000 deaths in Fulton County from heroin-related overdoses," Baldwin said. "This suggests that we have a brief window of opportunity to get out ahead of the heroin problem in North Fulton and the surrounding metro area." "   (Information cited from January 16, 2016 article by 90.1FM WABE)
