Medical Minute with Mary Hudgins
As the Chest Pain Practice Specialist at Gwinnett Medical Center, Mary has a commitment to not only patients who are admitted to the hospital after having heart attack, but also to the community. Teaching the surrounding community the risks of having heart attacks and the importance of heart health and early heart attack care and prevention are part of this commitment. She has been a nurse for 35 years, receiving her Diploma in nursing from Hall School of Nursing in Gainesville, GA, a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University, a Masters in Nursing with a concentration in education from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, and a Post Masters certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Mary is a member of several national nursing organizations. The majority of her work experience has been in Cardiac Intensive Care and the Cardiac catheterization lab. After teaching for several years in a college nursing program, she returned to the hospital setting to coordinate programs in stroke and cardiac care, leading to her present position at Gwinnett Medical Center.
